Отражение и преломление плоских электромагнитных волн на границе раздела с биизотропной средой

Abstract

Reflection and refraction of plane electromagnetic waves are investigated for the case of the plane boundary vacuum – biisotropic medium. It is shown that at the normal incidence of the linearly polarized wave the reflected wave is also linearly polarized, but its polarization plane is rotated to the incident wave polarization plane. The dependence of the rotation angle is found as a function of the biisotropic medium parameters. It is shown that at the oblique incidence of the linearly polarized wave (in the incidence plane or perpendicular to it) the reflected wave is elliptically polarized and the main axis of the polarization ellipse is oblique to the incident wave polarization plane. The oblique angles and the ratios of the half axes of the polarization ellipses are found in the both cases. Such polarization of the wave refracted from the biisotropic medium distinguishes the biisotropic medium from an isotropic or chiral medium radically. The problems of normal and oblique incidence of circularly polarized waves are also solved. In all the cases the pointing vectors of all the waves are found and the energy conservation is examined.
